My Mission Trip Testimony -
Part II
Getting the socks off!
Last month I talked about
everything that led up to getting Jeanene's socks off.
Here's the rest of that
story...
When God
tells you to do something...
you'd better do it!
I knew that if I did go on
the trip, that I was to wash Jeanene's feet. That made me nervous
because I have never thought about washing someone else's feet
before!
How was I going to make it
happen? Would I take her aside and ask her if I could wash her
feet? Then, would we go off by
ourselves to her apartment and then would I dig out a pot from her
pan cupboard? Should I use dish soap?!
My biggest worry was how
would I get her socks off!
It would need to be
more put together, something special.
I waited. I was going to
do it, but I needed a plan.
A well
orchestrated plan... sounds good!
On Thursday it was
Louise's turn to do devotions. Her and I were talking and I
spilled the beans about my foot washing dilemma.

She was thinking of doing
something that evening regarding the alabaster box. After talking
a while, we came up with an awesome plan!
Not only was Jeanene going
to get her feet washed by me, but Richard, Jeanene's husband would get his feet
washed also.
We would invite them over
for dinner and afterwards we would have a special time of prayer.
We asked another team
member to wash Richard's feet. Afterwards, the men would
pray for him. Then it would be my turn to wash Jeanene's feet and then
the women and I would pray for her.
We even had a song about
the alabaster box on CD to play during our special time.
We had a great evening
planned!
Everything
works together...
I was thinking all day
that perhaps Jeanene had her feet washed many times, that this
would be nice, but definitely not a first for her. Was I wrong!
I discovered a lot about
myself, about my own
capabilities - I can do many things through Christ and they are
even easier than I think when I am obedient.
I was humbled by the
experience. I cried, she cried. She was blessed and I was really
blessed. It was very humbling.
Later that evening I was
talking with the woman who runs the house that we stayed in and
she told me that it had been on her mind the last couple weeks,
too. She had felt that a team should wash feet!
I love it when God gives a
definite "thumbs up" through confirmations!
Next month - Climbing the
Mountain!

Here's
how the story started
